Movie of the Day: Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939)
I recently watched Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. It's about a small-town man who gets elected into the Senate by the state's governor. He discovers a scandal involving a business tycoon and several senators and congressmen.
It stars Jimmy Stewart, Claude Rains, Edward Arnold, Jean Aurther, Guy Kibbe, Thomas Mitchell, and Eugene Pallet, along with several others such as H.B. Warner.

iPad or Huge iPhone?
This is a sad example of technology. The iPad is huge compared to the iPhone. It's supposed to be one thousand dollars and it will come out in two months. I see no point in this device. Aren't the phones and devices supposed to be more compact as time goes on? If you go to any Sprint, Verizon, or AT&T store, you'll see that phones are getting BIGGER. Is it to help contain all the technology, or is it because they got tired of being small? In the eight minute video at http://www.apple.com/ipad/ it says that it's the "best movie watching experience". I can get rid of my forty two inch TV screen for that thing.

Obama State of the Union Adress
Whatever Obama says on Wednesday will be a failure, no matter what. Let me paint you a picture:
It's Wednesday, the podium is set up. Obama walks on stage. He waves. He starts his speech. "Through my......uh.....first year as president.....uh.......of............". He does his annoying bobble-head thing looking at two different teleprompters, like that one on the left.
Many Democrats think that the speech on Wednesday will be a "redeeming moment".
One thing that would ruin his day would be if he talked about the Christmas day bomber. He'd probably make a "Fruit of the Booms" joke like several political comics and radio shows have.
Another damaging topic would be the Senate and Health Care. He's bound to claim he has been "trying to save the public option". He's already lost the super majority he needed to pass the bill, thanks to Scott Brown's win in Mass.

Favre Return: Will he Play or Will he Retire......Again?
After playing football for over 20 years for the Greenbay Packers, the New York Jets, and the Minnisota Vikings, Brett Favre wants to retire, for good. Favre told ESPN's Ed Werder that his return for another season was "highly unlikely".
I've never understood why so many sports consider 40 to be a "too-old-to-play" age. Maybe It's because their bodies aren't as conditioned or able as a 25 year-old's. Favre is one of the few who can unleash his skills after 40. I sincerely hope that he will return for another season.
Movie of the Day: Tell It to the Judge (1949)
I watched TELL IT TO THE JUDGE yesterday.
It's a comedy where a lawyer (Bob Cummings) tries to win back his ex-wife (Rosalind Russell). TELL IT TO THE JUDGE is more of a romance than a comedy, but it has quite a few comedic moments. If you notice that this was made during the Code, you will realize how much this movie was pushing it.
A little jealousy leads Cummings, Russell, and Gig Young to a gambling house, where a series of events leads to Cummings' and Russell's remarriage.
On a 1 to 10 scale, I give it a 6 or 7.
TELL IT TO THE JUDGE does not appear to be on VHS or DVD, but if I find it, I'll let you all know.

What this is about
I’m a person who has some interests he likes to share. Movies, for example, is a subject I love. I currently am trying to watch classic movies. By that, I don’t mean movies like Jaws or Superman. I’m talking about the movies from the “Golden Year of Hollywood”. Movies like Gone With the Wind or Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.
. I’m an amateur chef, and I don’t deny it. I’ll be talking about recipes I get from cookbooks by Emeril Lagasse and Rachel Ray and let you know if you should try it or skip it.
